Quick answers to common questions about membership, events, professional development and the services offered by the Kenya Association of Clinical Pathologists.
Who is eligible for KACP membership?
KACP has a single membership, open to professionals in pathology in Kenya across all seven KACP divisions: Histopathology and Cytopathology and Forensic Pathology under Anatomic Pathology; Chemical Pathology, Medical Microbiology and Parasitology, Haematology and Blood Transfusion, and Immunopathology under Clinical Pathology; and Molecular Pathology, which spans both branches. See Join KACP for details.
How do I register for KACP conferences and CPD events?
Registration for all events is done online through this website. Go to the Events page, select the event you wish to attend and complete the registration form. Payment is usually required to confirm your place, and members receive a discounted rate for most events. You will receive a confirmation email with the event details and, where applicable, a link to download your CPD certificate after the event.
Does KACP offer Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points?
Yes. KACP is an accredited CPD provider with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC). Our conferences, workshops and scientific meetings are designed to carry CPD points. The number of points for each event is stated in the event materials and on your certificate of attendance.
How can I access members only resources and forums?
The Resources page is open to everyone. The Members Forum and the members directory are for members who are signed in and whose fees are paid. Once your application is approved and your dues are current you will receive your login details. If you have lost them, use the forgot password link on the Member Login page.
What are the membership fees, and how can I pay?
Membership costs KES 5,000 a year, the same for every member. Payment can be made by:
- M-Pesa Paybill 522522, account number 1289796459
- Bank transfer to KCB Bank Kenya Ltd, Moi Avenue branch, account name Kenya Association of Clinical Pathologists, account number 1289796459
- Cheque payable to Kenya Association of Clinical Pathologists, delivered to the Secretariat
- After paying, confirm the payment on the Pay Membership Fees page so the Secretariat can match it to your record
Always quote your membership number as the payment reference, or your full name if a number has not yet been issued. The full breakdown is on the Join KACP page.
How can I join a committee or volunteer for outreach programmes?
KACP encourages members to take an active part. You can express your interest in serving on a committee, for example scientific, education or advocacy, or in volunteering for community outreach, by:
- Contacting the committee chairperson directly
- Completing the interest form on the Divisions and Committees page
- Responding to calls for volunteers in the newsletter and member communications
I have not received my membership certificate or event confirmation. What should I do?
Please check your spam or junk folder first. If you still cannot find it, contact the KACP Secretariat at info@kacp.co.ke or call +254 726 830 732. Have your full name and membership number, or your event registration reference, ready so we can resolve it quickly.
Does KACP provide career or job placement support for pathologists?
KACP is not a recruitment agency, but we support members in their careers in several ways.
Announcements and Opportunities. We post vacancies, grants, fellowships and training opportunities from reputable institutions on our Announcements and Opportunities page as they are shared with us.
Networking. Our conferences and events are strong platforms for professional networking.
Mentorship. We are developing a formal mentorship programme connecting experienced consultants with trainees and early career pathologists.
