Our technical work is organised into specialist divisions and standing committees. Each is led by members practising in that field, and each is open to any KACP member who wants to contribute.

Specialist divisions

Hematology and Blood Sciences

Blood disorders, coagulation and transfusion medicine.

Clinical Microbiology

Infectious disease diagnostics, antimicrobial stewardship and infection control.

Clinical Biochemistry

Method standardisation, quality assurance and metabolic disease diagnostics.

Histopathology and Cytology

Tissue and cytology diagnostics, including cancer reporting.

Clinical Immunology

Autoimmune disease, immunodeficiency and allergy diagnostics.

 

 

Standing committees

Molecular Pathology

Advancing genetic testing, molecular diagnostics and genomic medicine through standardisation, training and research.

Transfusion Medicine

Safe transfusion practice, voluntary blood donation, and national blood banking standards.

Quality Assurance

Laboratory accreditation, quality management systems and proficiency testing programmes nationwide.

Education and Training

Curriculum standards, continuing medical education and professional development for pathologists and laboratory staff.

Research and Development

Collaborative research, funding, and innovation in laboratory medicine and clinical pathology practice.

Public Health

Epidemiological surveillance, outbreak response and support for national disease control programmes.

Joining a division or committee

Divisions and committees are where most of the association’s work actually happens. If you are a member and want to join one, write to the secretariat at info@kacp.co.ke naming the division or committee you are interested in.
